In a recent Facebook post, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta (formerly known as Facebook), announced the creation of a new top-level product group that will be dedicated to generative AI. The focus of this new group will be to turbocharge the company’s work in this area and build delightful experiences around this technology into all of Meta’s different products.

Zuckerberg shared that the new product group will initially focus on building creative and expressive tools. These tools will enable users to create unique and engaging content across Meta’s platforms. However, the company’s long-term vision is to develop AI personas that can help people in a variety of ways.

The team is exploring experiences with text, images, and video in messaging applications such as WhatsApp and Messenger. Additionally, they are experimenting with creative Instagram filters and ad formats. Although there is still foundational work to be done before reaching the really futuristic experiences, Zuckerberg expressed his enthusiasm for all the new things they will build along the way.

Meta’s move towards developing AI personas aligns with the company’s mission to connect people and build communities. As technology continues to evolve, the creation of AI personas that can help users navigate and engage with Meta’s platforms in a personalized way will undoubtedly be a game-changer.
