Mason Greenwood has been set free from charges of rape and assault by the Crown Prosecution Service.
According to the Prosecutors, the charges were dropped after significant witnesses withdrew their participation.
In January 2022, the 21-year-old was detained in connection with allegations regarding videos and images.
Later, he was accused of assault with actual bodily harm, controlling and coercive behavior, and attempted rape.
The forward, who has only played once for the England senior team, was banned from playing or training with the Old Trafford club just hours after the allegations surfaced at the beginning of 2022.
“The decision of the Crown Prosecution Service is that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped,” a representative of Manchester United stated. They stated officially on their website manutd.com, “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps.”
Mason Greenwood made a recent statement regarding the ruling: “I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support. There will be no further comment at this time.”
