World famous European club Manchester United Football Club is the world’s most supported club by virtue of the number of fans who have signed up to be the official members of the once most successful sporting club in the world.
The latest feat pegs the club as the sporting franchise with the most registered fans officially among all sporting clubs globally.
According to the official club website, announcing the enrollment growth of their fan base it communicated that Manchester United has reached a record registration of 330,000 members – the largest official enrollment in the world of sports.
German based club Bayern Munich is second with official registered fans reaching 290,000 members from their worldwide fan base.
Surpassing the 300,000 support mark is the first time any football club has attained such an achievement. The English club has an impressive love from fans worldwide with presence in 167 countries.
United’s official Supporter Clubs have increased to attain a staggering record of 275 clubs in 94 countries worldwide more than any football franchise.
Acknowledging the records in a statement, the club’s chief operating officer, Collette Roche said: “Manchester United’s greatest strength is our huge global family of loyal fans, whether match-goers who come to Old Trafford week-in-week-out, or the millions who support us just as passionately from around the world.
“We are delighted that so many of these fans have become official members, bringing them closer to the club and providing a range of benefits such as preferential access to match tickets and a range of discounts on club products and services.”
“On behalf of everyone at Manchester United, I would like to thank our official members for the unstinting support they provide to the club and our teams.”
Notable records have also been achieved as a result of increase of fans such as new attendance records for the group stages of the UEFA competition with sell-out spectator crowds of over 73,000 in the Europa League games against FC Sheriff and Omonia at Old Trafford in October 2022.
In the Women’s Super League, a new record was set by Manchester United Women at Old Trafford with 30,196 spectators filling the stadium in the 5-0 win over Aston Villa Women Football Club.
On the demand for seats and tickets, Roche communicated: “Demand for seats at Old Trafford is higher than ever and we never take that support for granted. “We are continuing to work with our fan representatives to ensure that as many fans as possible can enjoy the Theatre of Dreams, with a matchday atmosphere that provides a great experience for fans and strong support for the team.” The club’s official website manutd.com also notified that the outfit’s supporters platform, the Fan’s Forum and Fans Advisory Board has been working with the club to increase access to match tickets with the introduction of Cup Season Tickets and the expansion of youth ticket discounts and various features to enhance access to all matches.
