Black Sherif Wins Best International Flow at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards

Ghanaian music star Black Sherif is the winner of the Best International Flow category award at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards. The awards ceremony, which showcases hip hop performers, producers and music video directors, aired on BET on Tuesday, October 4.

Black Sherif, whose real name is Mohammed Ismail Sherif, beat out other nominees such as Burna Boy, Nasty C, Dave, Laylow and Little Simz to claim the prestigious award. He is the first Ghanaian artist to win this category, which was introduced in 2019 to honor artists from different countries who are making an impact in the hip hop scene.

Black Sherif rose to fame in 2021 with his hit songs “First Sermon” and “Second Sermon”, which showcased his unique blend of rap and singing. He also released his debut album “The Villain I Never Was” in 2022, which featured songs such as “Konongo Zongo”, “Money” and “Destiny”.

The young artist thanked his fans, his team and his country for their support in his acceptance speech. He also dedicated the award to his late mother, who passed away in 2020. He said he hopes to inspire other young artists from Ghana and Africa to pursue their dreams and express themselves through music.

Winning Best International Flow puts Sherif in elite company alongside past winners like Dave (UK), Stormzy (UK), and Nasty C (South Africa). It’s a testament to Sherif’s talents that he is already receiving honors onHip Hop’s biggest international stage.

The BET Hip Hop Awards also featured performances by Cardi B, 21 Savage, Drake, DJ Khaled and others. Cardi B and 21 Savage were the leading nominees with 10 nods each.
