POPULAR comedian OB Amponsah was last Saturday adjudged Best Comedian of the Year at the third Comedy and Poetry Awards (COPO) held at A H Hotel, East Legon.
O B Amponsah beat off Clemento Suarez, Jacinta Ocansey, Akrobeto and Aka Ebenezer to win the ultimate prize.
Apart from the top most prize, he also picked up Best Headline Comedian of the Year and Best Radio Comedy Show of the Year.
Other winners on the night included Lekzy Decomic who won Best Stand Up Comedian of the Year, Best Comedy Actor of the Year went Aka Ebenezer, Parrot Mouth grabbed Best African and Jacinta Ocansey went home with Best Female Comedian award.

For poetry Nana Asaase won Best Spoken Word Act of the Year, Rhyme Sonny took Best Spoken Word Performer of the Year, Best Female Spoken Word Act of the Year went to Menaye Ideas and Kwame Shelta won Best New Spoken Word Act of the Year.
In all, 30 awards were given on the night which saw incredible performances from musician Kobi Rana, comedian O B Amponsah and poets Timmy and Rhyme Sonny.
The event which started 9: 30 was graced by some industry players including AY Poyoo, Apaatse, Whitnee Dee and Odaykula.
COPO put together by Dennis Boateng of Creative Republic Limited aims at celebrating hardworking comedians and poets in Ghana.
